Dr.Jart+ Concept/Flagship Store: Dr.Jart+ Filter Space in Seoul

The Dr.Jart+ concept store was one of the concept stores that I definitely wanted to visit while I was in Seoul. When I went with a friend to Sinsadong we visited the Skinfood cafe and concept store (I did a post about here), and then this Dr.Jart+ store. However this isn't located in the main street, you kind of have to search for it, although it is easy to spot even from the main street.

La tienda concepto de Dr.Jart+ era una de las tiendas "especiales" que tenía claro que quería visitar ésta última vez que estuve en Seúl. Cuando fui con una amiga a Sinsadong visitamos la tienda concepto y cafetería de Skinfood (ya hice su entrada aquí), y después ésta de Dr.Jart+. Ésta no está en la calle principal y hay como que buscarla, pero se ve rápido desde esa calle principal.

Right at the entrance there are some computer where you can select several things about your skin, like type, concerns etc, and then it would print a "recipe" with the recommended products for you. It is sadly only in Korean, and even if I went with a friend that is fluent in it, I just didn't feel like doing it to be completely honest. I just selected random things to see how it worked.


Justo a la entrada hay unos ordenadores en los que puedes seleccionar diferentes cosas sobre tu piel, como el tipo, tus problemas etc, y luego te imprime una "receta" con productos recomendados para ti. Desgraciadamente sólo está en coreano, y aunque fui con una amiga que sabe coreano (bien, no como yo), la verdad es que no me apetecía mucho hacerlo. Seleccioné cosas aleatorias para ver cómo funcionaba.

At the left side of the computers they have "flyers" in a lot of languages, to help you understand and navigate the store knowing how it was designed. And yes, I totally took one.


En la zona izquierda de los ordenadores tienen unos "flyers" en muchos idiomas, para ayudar a entender y navegar la tienda sabiendo cómo se diseño. Y sí, por supuesto que cogí uno.

The Dr.Jart+ concept store doesn't have a cafe or anything like that, but it's designed like a laboratory, which I honestly think it's really clever and cool. I really like how integrated the brand philosophy is with the design of the store, and really shows how much thought there was behind the whole construction.


La tienda concepto de Dr.Jart+ no tiene un café o algo parecido, pero está diseñada como un laboratorio, que me parece una idea súper original y muy bien ejecutada. Me gusta mucho cómo se integró la filosofía de la marca en el diseño de la tienda, y refleja todo el proceso que hubo detrás de la construcción en sí.

Just in front of the computers, just right of the entrance, there's a really nice display of some of the products integrated with the design, which looks really cool, as if that was the way to create the products.


Enfrente de los ordenador, a la derecha de la entrada, hay como un mostrador con algunos de los productos integrados en el diseño, qué quedan genial, como si fuera así como se crean los mismos.

This first floor is great and very detailed while not being overwhelming, kind of like an introduction to the brand (we still don't know what the doll was doing in that tank of water tho).

Ésta primera planta es genial y muy detallada sin resultar demasiado, como si fuera una introducción a la marca (todavía no sabemos qué pintaba ese elefante en el tanque de agua).

Also, as an Architectural Engineer major I have to say that I love how this was built and designed, but I'm biased towards seen plain gray concrete mixed with different metals.

Además, como graduada en arquitectura técnica, debo decir que me encanta cómo se construyó y diseñó, pero también tengo favoritismo hacia el hormigón visto mezclado con metales.

Left of the stairs there's the Water Bar, where you can calculate your daily intake of water and actually drink water. But I think I remember that the number of liters of water was very off to what I've always known so...


A la izquierda de las escaleras se encuentra el "bar de agua", donde se puede calcular cuánto agua necesitas al día e incluso beber. Pero creo recordar que lo que me salía a mí era totalmente diferente a lo que sé desde hace años así que...

The stairs lead to different parts of the concept store, the first stop which is called "garden" is just another entrance from another street.


Las escaleras llevan a diferentes parte de ésta tienda, la primera parada siendo el "jardín", que es en realidad la entrada que tienen por otra calle.

The "air shop", or just plain shop, is in the 2nd floor and it's rather big. I think this is the only Dr.Jart+ store, since I've only seen their products in Olive Young (in South Korea obviously). I love how neatly arranged everything is, still following the laboratory aesthetic.


La "tienda de aire", o simplemente la tienda, está en la segunda planta y es bastante grande. Creo que ésta es la única tienda de Dr.Jart+, sólo he visto sus productos en Olive Young (en Corea obviamente). Me encanta lo ordenadito que está todo siguiendo el "look" de laboratorio.

Upon entering the room, int he left side, they have a display of their most famous masks, a washing-hand thing, and some high chairs with mirrors (very well thought so you can try makeup on with natural light). There was an elephant with an air balloon, and there were also two big elephants in the rooftop of the store, which could be seen from the second entrance store. A couple of days ago I searched for store photos on instagram and there had different animals, so I don't know what is the deal with this.


Nada más entrar a la zona, en la parte izquierda, hay un expositor de sus mascarillas más famosas, una barra digamos tipo laboratorio para lavarte las manos, y unas sillas altas con espejos (muy bien pensado apara poder probarse maquillaje con luz natural). También había aquí un elefante en un globo de aire, y en los tejados del exterior había otros dos enormes, que se veían por la entrada secundaria. Hace un par de días busqué fotos de la tienda por instagram y había otro animal, así que ni idea el porqué se supone que están.

I really liked how everything was classified in the different lines they have, with signs to let you know where each one is.


Me gusta mucho lo clasificado por gamas que tienen todo, con carteles diferenciando todo.

I love the lighting with the small lamp highlighting different products, mirrors every once in a while and how absolutely neat everything was. Everything was very very clean, which actually makes you want to try things. It was my first time seeing so many makeup products of Dr.Jart+ and it definitely made me want to buy some of them.


Me chifla que decidieran iluminar los productos más de cerca con ésas lámparas tan curiosas, incluso con espejos cada cierta distancia, y obviamente lo milimetrado que está colocado todo. Todo estaba muy, muy limpio, lo que hace que quieras probar las cosas. Era la primera vez que veía tantos productos de maquillaje de Dr.Jart+ juntos, y la verdad que me hicieron querer probar y comprar varios.

Something that really caught my eye were these tester cards. It was my first and only time seeing this kind of thing, so excuse me if it's something normal for you, but I think it's a good idea to see the consistency, color etc of cream without getting having to use your hands. Although I do think that it's still better to try them on your skin. And yes, I totally took one as souvenir...


Algo que me llamó mucho la atención fueron éstas tarjetas tester. Fue mi prima y única vez viendo algo como esto, así que perdón si es algo común para ti pero creo que es una idea genial para ver la consistencia, color etc, de los productos y no mancharte. Aunque también pienso que lo mejor sigue siendo probar los productos en tu propia piel. Y por supuesto que me llevé uno de recuerdo...

They also had some new masks (well, new at that moment), and some products, most of them masks, that I had never seen before.


También tenían unas mascarillas nuevas (bueno, cuando fui eran nuevas) y algunos productos, la mayoría de ellos mascarillas, que nunca había visto antes.

It was very pleasant to see products so neatly arranged, everything was so visually pleasing that we really stayed a long time trying different things.


La verdad que era un gustazo ver los productos tan ordenaditos, todo entraba tanto por los ojos que nos quedamos un buen rato probando cosas diferentes.

Third Floor: Light

We didn't go up to the third floor but I don't exactly remember why... I think we went upstair and it was basically a rooftop terrace with a closed area (as it puts in the flyer that they do different activities only by subscription).

No fuimos al tercer piso pero no recuerdo porqué... Creo que subimos y vimos que era una terraza en el tejado, con una zona cerrada (como pone en el flyer que ofrecen diferentes servicios previo encargo).


I loved this store and would definitely go back to buy some products from Dr.Jart+ that I haven't tried yet (well, the only full-size products I have tried from them are the Clay mask to foaming trio), specially makeup.

Me encantó la tienda y definitivamente volvería a ella a comprar productos de Dr.Jart+ (que ahora que lo pienso lo único de tamaño venta que tengo de ellos es su trio de arcilla a limpiador en espuma), especialmente maquillaje.
